Chapter 1 - Basics Of Networking
Definition of networking
In
present network is most important to members all over the world. We can divide
network as,
·
Computer
·
Communication
Computer
network is a interconnection between two or more computers in order to share resources,
software, hardware etc. We can call internet as global network of networks. And
also we can help other members via network.
Ex:-When a friend is suffering with
a problem in his pc , A friend of his can connect to his computer via network
and he can solve his problem .Team viewer
is a best example for this situation.
Communication
means sharing resources via telephones or data communication lines over long
distance by connecting with each other using routers, switches, servers etc.
In
present the network is using lot of places. As examples networking is using in
many schools, universities, companies etc.
Peer to peer network
Types of networking
In
networking we can divide network into two types. Each type has their own
advantages and disadvantages. The two types of network is
- · Peer to peer
- · Client-server
Peer to peer network
Peer
to peer is a network that connects two or more computers to sharing purposes.
In peer to peer network we can say all PC’s are in equal. That means there are
no server PC’s (main PC’s). and also at a time a PC can be a server and that PC
can share resources to another PC and that PC can be a client also and it can
receive resources from another PC as well. Following is a diagram of peer to
peer network.
Advantages of peer-to-peer network
- · All PC’s are equal
- · Resource can share by any node
- · No special permissions needed
- · Easy to share
Client-Server network
Client-server
network is a network which has a centralized device as Server. In this network
the centralized device is only the server and other PC’s cannot be a server.
The server device can share resources and other PC’s can get them.in this
network all PC’s are connected to the server. Following is a diagram of
client-server network.
Advantages of client-server network
- · Clear management (files are saved in a central place)
- · Protection from virus
- · Protection from cyber crimes.
